Quick Hair Care Tips for Dealing with Humidity
Unless you are new to North Carolina, you know we are telling the truth when we say that humidity brings with it a whole new set of challenges when it comes to hair care. Humidity can affect your hair no matter its type, texture, or color. The most common problem is increased frizz and flyaways. It can be super frustrating to take the time to style your hair in the morning, only to have it ruined within minutes of stepping outside. So we’ve put together some quick hair care tips to help you deal with whatever your hair might throw at you.
- Use the right products! Proper hair care begins in the shower—we suggest using moisturizing or humidity control shampoo and conditioner to begin strengthening your hair against the humidity. Use hair oil for touch-ups when styling (being careful not to use the oil at your roots, which could cause greasiness). Invest in a round boar bristle brush and use it to control ends when drying your hair.
- The cold is your friend! Rinse your hair with cold water in the shower and use the cold air setting on your blow dryer.
- Don’t wash your hair as often to protect the natural oils on your scalp. These oils, if left undisturbed, will help tame the frizz. Shampoo strips the natural oils your head produces so avoid washing with shampoo every day.
- Make sure your hair is completely dry before going outside to prevent frizziness. Moisture feeds frizz!
